An oil painting created outside Lucinda’s studio in St Thomas. One day while Lucinda was painting in her studio, she saw a couple dressed to the 9’s walking down Synagogue Hill, right in front of her studio. She ran outside and called to them to find out what the occasion was. The man, who was wearing a dress shirt just out of the package, (as you can see) said he was marrying his friend’s sister who he’d just met. She was from Dominica and spoke no English. Yes, they were getting married for her green card and were on their way to City Hall. An hour later the couple came through her door with a piece of cake on an embroidered linen napkin as a thank you. It was a tender moment Lucinda will never forget.
